Birmingham-based band, Violette, is a collaboration between Bella Daviston and Sam Graphos, combining the reverb-soaked soundscapes of shoegaze with the “timeless melodies” of classic 50s records. After meeting while both interning at the Birmingham studio“Ol Elegante”, Graphos and Daviston somewhat accidentally found themselves working on a collaborative project that later became the band. After close collaboration with producer and studio owner Les Nuby (Verbena, Vulture Whale, St Paul and the Broken Bones), the group ended up with a pretty hefty number of songs of their own. At its core, Violette uses the surf-y guitar sounds of bands such as “The Ventures”, the delicate melodies of “Lush” or “The Sundays”, and the overall dreamy sonic feel of a “David Lynch” soundtrack to create something of their own.
